Surrounded by vineyards, fields and footpaths including St Peter’s Way, it is perfect for those who like to wander in the countryside. 

The Old Rectory is an impressive family residence occupying a commanding hilltop position with views of the neighbouring 14th century All Saints Church and over the picturesque village of Purleigh and the beautiful Essex countryside.

Built in 1886, the Rectory has been beautifully restored and refurbished to create a wonderful family home which retains enormous character and period charm. The elegant accommodation is arranged over two floors combining well-proportioned reception rooms with comfortable bedrooms and bathrooms over the ground and first floors.

The extensive tiered lawns to the rear and beautiful gardens are a great place to relax and for children to play. There is a children’s play area with swings and slide as well as an in-ground trampoline at the bottom of the garden. 

On the first floor there are 5 bedrooms. There is a master bedroom with superking bed and en-suite next to a further bedroom with a king sized bed. Across the landing there is a semi-en-suite nursery bedroom with a king sized bed and a cot (smaller crib available on request). There are a further two bedrooms, one with, a double bed and the other with a superking bed, with the option to be made up as two single beds.

There are two rooms that are unavailable for guest use as well as a few cupboards that are locked, other than that the main house is for our guests to enjoy. We live on site in a self contained apartment on the second floor with its own entrance and staircase.
